Advice for air travel

Here are some tips on how to travel by plane:

Book your ticket:

You can book your ticket either online or through a travel agent. Make sure to book in advance to get the best deals.

Pack your bags:

Check with your airline about their baggage policy, including the size and weight limitations for your checked and carry-on bags. Remember to pack your liquids in a clear, plastic bag and to follow the TSA guidelines for prohibited items.

Arrive at the airport early:

You should arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight's scheduled departure time. This will give you enough time to check in, go through security, and get to your gate.

Check-in:

You can check in online or at the airport. If you're checking in at the airport, look for signs indicating where to check-in. You will need your ID and your boarding pass.

Go through security:

Be prepared to remove your shoes, belt, and any jewelry, and place your liquids and electronics in separate bins for screening. Follow the TSA's guidelines for carry-on items and liquids.

Board the plane:

Listen for announcements indicating when your flight is boarding, and follow the signs to your gate. You may have to present your boarding pass and ID again before boarding the plane.

Packing Your Bags For Your Trip

Every day, there are millions of people who take flights to get to their destination. Whatever their reason is to travel whether business or pleasure, they usually have baggage with them. Many are not aware, however, of what they should or should not have packed.

If you are planning a trip, it is wise to think carefully about the items that you are taking with you, whether you are packing them in your carryon or checked luggage.  You should no longer pack just for convenience, you need to also keep in mind the air travel rules about items or materials that are allowed and the ones that are not, on the plane.

For those items that are prohibited, it is vital to note that some might only have a partial ban.  This means there are some items that you can pack in your checked luggage but is not allowed in your carryon, for security reasons. Some of these items include liquids, sharp objects, large tools, and sporting goods.

Another thing to keep in mind is that even though you can pack certain items in your checked baggage that you cannot put in your carryon, some items are not permitted at all. These are any explosive or flammable materials, such as bombs, dynamite, gun powder, lighters, flares, and matches. If you attempt to bring any of these items on board with you or have them in your luggage, you will be prosecuted.

You also need to keep in mind the airline’s size and weight restrictions for your luggage, when you are packing for your trip. It would be therefore advisable to pack lightly in both your carryon and checked baggage. As some airlines are very strict, if your luggage is over the weight limit, they may charge you an extra fee and, in some cases, you would have to remove some of your items.

Passengers are urged whenever possible to only pack the necessary monetary and sentimental items. This is because there are times when your luggage may get damaged or lost.

By considering the points above when packing for your trip,  it will help to make your time at the airport stress-free.
