First Aid Kit for your Trip

It is important when packing for your trip that you include a first aid kit. This will help you to treat any minor illnesses straight away.

You should not only have one when you travel but also when doing any activity that is not close to civilization such as hiking or walking.

An ideal container for your first aid kit is one that is light like plastic and has a proper lid and if possible, has a handle. Boxes such as a small toolbox, fishing tackle box or kitchen Tupperware are good options.


Here is a list of some items you could put in your vacation first aid kit. Remember this is not a complete list, so there are other items you could also add.

Sterile gauze with adhesive tape and a small sharp scissors for cutting.

Different sizes of band-aids

Antibiotic cream

Hydrogen peroxide

Antiseptic wipes

Aspirin

Acetaminophen

Instant cold packs

Calamine lotion

Hydrocortisone cream

Antacid

Insect repellent

Motion sickness medication

Anti-diarrhoea medication

Sunscreen

Cold and Flu tablets

If you are taking prescription medication do not forget to pack sufficient for the entire duration of your trip.

You can also place a list of emergency numbers and your medical insurance information in your first aid kit.

Keep a first aid manual accessible and make sure to read it before your trip.  So, you are well prepared if anything should happen. You might also want to consider reviewing the manual with your children so they can have an idea about first aid.

It may be essential to include miscellaneous items such as a thermometer, latex gloves, tweezers, flashlight, and spare batteries.

Always remember to keep your first aid kit handy, but away from small children.

Planning For Your Trip


If you plan your trip properly you can enjoy traveling much more. Regardless of the reason whether it is business or pleasure, be sure to have all the items that are essential for a stress-free journey. There are a lot of options available today, so you don’t necessarily need to use a travel agency. As with the internet, it is likely you would save a lot of money. Here are 10 key things you should do for a hassle-free trip.

Know Your Destination: 

Get an overview of the places you are going to visit.  To avoid getting lost, research the routes you going to take before leaving on your journey.

Personal Items:

Remember to take your personal items with you. These include your toothpaste, toothbrush, clothing, underwear, comb and, cosmetics. You may also want to put your toiletries in a small carry bag. Place your money, ticket, and passport in your travel wallet so they are accessible.

Medication/First Aid:

Don’t forget to pack the medicines you normally take. You also need a first aid kit for in the event you have an emergency.

Footwear:

Make sure you choose the appropriate footwear for your trip. So, if you going to do a lot of sightseeing have a pair of comfortable shoes. Or, if it is a trip that involves sports such as hiking pack hiking boots.

Clothing:

When selecting your clothing, make sure to check what the weather would be and pack suitable clothing. If possible, pack wrinkle-free clothes.


Guidebook:

Get a guidebook to help organize your days and to book activities in advance.

Tote Bag:

Pack a large tote bag in your suitcase. This would be beneficial for putting the extra items you have purchased.
  
Secure Your Luggage:

It is wise to get an extra key for your baggage in case the original key gets lost.

Insurance: 

It is generally easier to travel on public transportation, but it is not always ideal. A rented car may sometimes be more useful. Before you leave in the rental, make sure to check it over and inform the clerk if they are any damages so you would not be charged for them.

Name Tags:


Be sure to label the outside and inside of your luggage to prevent uncertainty. Remember to include your address inside so that your luggage can easily be returned to you if it had been lost.
