How to Prepare for Travelling Abroad

Here is a quick list of essential things you should do before taking your trip

* Make sure that your passport is valid for six months after the date you travel, as some countries would not allow you to enter if it expires before.

* Check the requirements for entering the country you are traveling to. If a visa is required make sure to get the correct one.

* If you have not already filled the emergency contact details in your passport, make sure to do so.

* Get travel insurance to cover any medical emergency, lost luggage and flight delay.

* It is important to not only have electronic copies but also hard copies of your ticket, accommodation reservations, and passport.

* Inform a trusted family or friend about where you are traveling to, give them your contact details, a copy of your itinerary and passport.

* Get your travel money early and make sure you have access to funds in case of an emergency. If you are going to buy currency, the cheapest rates can be found online.

* Consider taking different forms of payment such as cash, debit card, and credit card. Make sure to inform your bank and credit card provider of your travel plans before you go.

* Learn as much as you can about the history and customs of your destination.

* Some countries charge entrance and exit fees and these are not included in your ticket.

* Pack appropriate clothing depending on the culture of your destination, the weather, activities you plan on doing, the length of your stay and airline luggage allowances.

* It is wise to pack an extra set of clothing in your hand luggage.

* Check the voltage and plugs used as you might need to pack a charger adaptor to use your electronics.

* Pre-book now for activities you want to do, places you want to visit and if you want to rent a car.

* Make sure to secure your home and have someone check on it routinely.
